The Trek
The Trek covers the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail and thru-hiking in general, with trail news and gear coverage.
Long-distance trail coverage for hikers planning or following a thru-hike.
Fin the horizon watcher
Fin keeps a close eye on the open water and reports every splash, even the ones that turn out to be clouds.
The big fish
A big grey fish glides past the island, quite sure that it is the one being watched.
The glass lantern
A glass lantern crowns the roof, so the lookout stays bright even when the weather turns grey.
The whale-shaped cloud
A cloud drifts above the water in the shape of a whale. It is practicing for the real thing.
The coffee cup
A steaming cup waits at the water edge, kept warm for the next long stretch of watching.
